2013 BOMBTRACK BIKE RANGE

This year VCA is exclusively importing Bombtrack Bike Co into Greece. The German company is at the forefront of fixed & FGFS. Last year they introduced the self-titled Bombtrack 26” Freestyle bike, and completely re-wrote the book for quality at this price level. This year they have gone one step further by upgrading the Bombtrack (now called the Dash) and introducing 2 new models, the Divide and The Script. 

The Divide is a really ‘new’ bike to the market, a 700c FGFS commuter. Imagine a fast bike built by a BMX nut! It’s got a stretched heat-treated 700c frame with real special details like the 10t micro-drive hub. Really quick getting up to speed, and then able to handle all terrain - from the skate park to the forest. FUN! It’s going to leave a smile for a long time.

The Script is pure fast bike, with a tight rear and looser front geo. This is a track bike for the road. Really nice thick aluminium tubing - reminiscent of the famed Cannondale - these tubes aren’t going to snap on you. Full race brakes for single speed or run it brakeless on the Andel cranks x 16t cog. Super great build quality.

FIXED DAYS 2013 / BERLIN BIKE SHOW

So we are back from Berlin. In the end, it was like 10 of us that went from Athens, It should have been more but the plague seams to have spread through the Greek bike world, everybody is ill! Berlin in March is terribly, terribly COLD. Minus 8 cold.. below zero cold.. It snowed ice. I couldn’t feel my fingers or toes for hours! Anyway, thats enough weather-reporting from a Mediterranean dwelling softy like me.  

The bike show was kinda split into two main sections, one hall showing all the main local brands and one showing european hand made frames / bikes. This hall had some interesting stuff -as well as some wild and wacky. There were nice displays of hand masked wet painting, an odd bike with a chair as it’s handle bars, and the normal trade show dose of curvy frame designs, all with a hight quality standard. 

The Main hall was pretty much dominated by fix and single speeds, there was some really nice builds from Berlinetta Cicli (really liked the Adidas bike) all german made. Chesini too had some lovely steel builds. Our only niggle was with the other more contemporary brands, 8-Bar, Goldsprint, Bike Punk & (new comers) Standert - They all had (more or less) the same bikes! and for one very good reason, they are all choosing to get their frames made by the same manufacturer! .. it kinda felt that you were looking at the same bike but in different colours. (but that is me being a bit grumpy)..they are still great bikes.

The Fixed-Days halls were super! All the events were put together by local shops and riding groups. 

As of previous years Manuel over at Traffic Distribution got all the right heads involved, Big shouts out from VCA to Mark Track Jack and FXD NOSTRA crew, Tommy (and the others) @ soundtrack, Saskia, Goldsprint and the Berlin Pedal Battle dudes (we really wanna try bike jousting now!) and the Polo teams (and everybody else that I’ve forgotten!).. Its great that you guys all came together for this… congratulations, we got to enjoy all your hard work! We had 3 days of bikes and beers… what could be better?.. oh!!! the weather!

BOMBTRACK BIKE Co - RANGE LAUNCH 2013 / SCRIPT - COMPETE BIKE

Bombtrack debuted in 2012 with the self titled “Bombtrack”. Flattening the 26” FGFS game with it’s  no-nonsense heat-treated frame,it instantly became the benchmark to which all others had to get too. - and it was cheap. Whilst the gossip flew around about cracked frames from other brands, we can honestly say that we didn’t hear anything negative about the bombtrack (and Breakbrake 17 for that matter). So they’re good then. Anyway…to… 2013…and…Whamm! 3 models! 

MODEL No 3: Yo! Speed freaks! Heres a killer for ya! The SCRIPT. A full Lo-Pro fast bike. Reminiscent of the Cannondale track (which now costs more than a house ) It’s built from 6061 aluminium, but nice and thick - unlike all those paper-thin track frames we’ve been seeing around- So you can really chuck this mother around. It’s built for the road, but with track geometry. The parts are top-notch too, with cranks custom made by Andel. There are 2 versions: a blue model with drop bars and a polished alu version (coming later) with bull horns. Drilled for brakes. What an Awesome machine this is. Details:
